Equity Release

Getting cash out of your home

Mortgage advice for equity release

For when you need to free up some of the value in your home.

When you’ve got a lot of equity, sometimes it makes sense to take some back to fund something important.

Like a renovation. Or helping children or grandchildren with deposits. Or even a once in a lifetime trip.

If you haven’t heard of equity release, you may have heard of a lifetime mortgage – which is what most people call it.

Essentially, it’s a way of getting some of the money back that you’ve got tied up in your home – without having to sell. You’ll unlock the cash as a lump sum via a loan and, either pay it back monthly or have the interest rolled up into the mortgage.

Most people using equity releases are over 55, but you can do it at any time of life.

The amount you can release depends on your age and the value of your home, but if you’re later in life then it’s worth considering that the loan amount plus interest can grow over time – potentially reducing the inheritance you leave behind.

That’s why our specialist equity release adviser, Alison Gulliver, brings the expertise to know exactly what to look for and how to guide you in making the right choice for you, your family, your short-term needs, and your long-term plans.
